I have been tired. So tired. I recently changed my thyroid meds from 150 mg Armour Thyroid to 200 mcg Synthroid. Wondering if this is why.

I've been puttering around the house today. I've done some homework and made a yummy dinner in the pressure cooker. I'm concerned because I can't seem to spend enough time studying. Focus Carla.

I'm on the road back home from a very long road trip. I've had such a wonderful time. My heart aches for my family and friends that I left behind in the Pacific Northwest.

I'm still not in the habit of writing in a journal. This feels a little awkward to me. Should I recounted my entire vacation? Does anybody really want to hear about it anyway?

It's been way too long since I logged in here. It took me a little bit to figure out what my username and password one again. But, I did it. I had attempted to log in several times over the last few months, but to no avail.

I figured it out. Back on track I go.

Been a pretty good holiday and week since. Good things happening.

#1 finals were done on Wednesday
#2 we got a new family member. Bella is a 5 month old half lab half Pitbull.
#3 I have a new to me suv. Gas hog Ford Explorer 2005 xlt. Something that will be much safer to drive in this coming expected harsh winter. Plus I still have my commuter car for the nice days.
#4 Jim will be to town in 16 days.
#5 the kids will be leaving in 16 days. Yes this is a coincidence.
#7 my first tax return check has been received. Half to mom to help pay for the truck. Other half to pay for bills, Bella's first vet appt and shots, holiday gifts, and books for next semester.

Trying to keep it positive.

Wish I could sleep in tomorrow but Ian has fasting labs to take first thing tomorrow and Bella's appointment is at 10.

Did I mention that I'm getting old enough that my doc has put me on hormones? Yup. I am now on hormone replacement. Otherwise Known as low dose birth control pills. Yay. I've been on them just over 2 weeks and my only comment so far is that my tata's are tender.

Here's a picture of our new baby girl:

Life

One upon a time...

This woman was in not so terrible of a terrible marriage. Just not happy. See, one night she met a man. They fell into the throws of love. She had no idea that it was not the love that lasts a lifetime because it felt like it. How was she to know? Because it really felt like it.

They wanted to work through anything to be together. They were both very strong willed individuals. Too strong. One wanted things his way, the other wanted it hers. They moved across the country to start a new life together. Both left their established jobs, picked up the kids, and started a new life. She didn't want to give up so she gave in and tried it his way. Compromise. Pretty soon compromise was always what he wanted. Not in the little things on what's for dinner or what furniture to get. Rather, the big things like finances the importance of contributing to the family, how to discipline the children, and issues in the bedroom.

Now, she was not happy. She tried talking with him about it. She even asked for a separation. She just couldn't see herself as a quitter so she decided to work on things. She went to weeks of counseling with him. You know it's bad when the counselor asks why we are still together; why we were bothering to pay for sessions. So they stopped going. But she felt didn't get married to get divorced.

She knew she wasn't happy and asked herself why. So, she decided to make steps toward making herself happy. She knew she always wanted to start her own business, but didn't know how. She had always wanted to return to school to finish her education. She applied to the local school, financial aid, trans scripts and was accepted. She was the grand prize winner of her company's annual event.

She and her daughter joined a martial arts because it is something that she has always wanted to do and her daughter was interested. She wanted to participate more with her daughter. That was making her happier.

She was still unhappy. She tried talking about things with her husband to see about doing other things that would make her happy. But he always had some reason why she couldn't do one thing or another. She could see clearly that she couldn't be happy and be married to that man. So she made up her mind. She let him know she was filing for divorce and asked him to move out.

She decided to use the vacation she won to return to her home state for her 20 year high school reunion... without him. Because the award was worth so much, she actually was able to take a 2 week vacation from work and visit friends and family in three different states. She had a very interesting time. Learned a bit more about herself and underwent a bit of, shall we say, therapy. This time allowed her to focus even harder on creating her own happiness.

Nearly two months later she started classes for the first time in over 11 years and he was still living in the house. Not only was she taking business classes, she enrolled in the wind ensemble. She grew up playing the bass clarinet and realized she missed it. So, why the heck not? She was getting happier, back on her path. She knew it was going to be hard but she was strong and determined.

A few weeks later it was time for court. There had been many hurtful comments made by him and she was ready to have him move out. She had made up her mind and was ready to move on. After attending mandatory mediation, and having him reject every offer, came court.

Court was better than could have been expected. Not only was the separation finalized but she was given a huge surprise. She was awarded an annulment. It was as if her marriage never existed.

So now she waits for her ex... (what do you call it if he was never actually legally her husband?)... to move out by the 6th. She waits for the amended tax return checks to come in the mail. She also continues to kick ass in Taekwondo by recently testing for her third colored belt. In school she is excited to be achieving high marks and is looking forward to traveling by invite to Paris, France the winter of 2015 with her school's music program.

She continues to move with a forward momentum and puts her best foot forward every day. She still has days that are tough but now they are days that she is asking for and she is feeling like she is finally doing something worthwhile.

Wow! It's been over a year since I've posted anything here. So much has happened. I've even had more work done on my tatoo. Met some awsome people. Had my heart broken. Filed for bankruptcy. Got notice I'm getting laid off. Inherited a cat. And so much more.

I have such a hard time writing in a Journal.

Well, I think I'm done for now. Have a great night.

I had a wonderful time at RustyCon 24. It was a little smaller this year due to the weather, but as far as I know of, we made our numbers. RustyCon has always been small, but I always have a really good time. I really enjoyed going to the Guest of Honor dinner with Dave and meeting Rob Alexander, his wife and son as well as Terry Bisson. I already knew everyone with the fan group of honor, ISS. We went to 13 Coins via Airport Shuttle that the Hotel generously provided. We didn't want to take 3 cars out of the parking lot with the chance that we would not be able to find parking spaces when we returned.

Friday night after I got off of my security shift, I went out for dessert with Wolf. Once again we went to 13 coins. I had this TO-DIE-FOR Chocolate Mousse Cheesecake that had raspberry puree drizzled over the top. MMMMMM soooo good. Wolf had been up for over 48 hours at that point so we decided it was a good idea for him to head home and get some sleep. After he dropped me back off at the hotel, I ran into Ludo, Pete, and Errhead. From that point we got inebriated and decided to go soak in the hot tub. I am so glad that we did as the next night the hot tub was all scummy looking. They even canceled the Pool Party that they had scheduled due to it (or that's what I heard anyway). I didn't go to bed until 9:00 am on Saturday.

I woke up at 2:00 pm on Saturday. I was on shift for about about 5 hours before I got hungry and went to dinner at Denny's with Shani and Ricky. The walk was an icy mess. I nearly fell twice. After that, we headed back to the hotel. I partied. I drank. Too much. I had my hair pulled by two tall and strong men. It was fabulous. I flirted. I drank. I was found wandering in the hallway by our illustrious chair and put to bed. I think I got to bed/passed out just before midnight. I didn't get out of bed until 11:00 am. Woke up with a hang over (still have it now as it is). That's what I get for drinking at the Bio=hazard party. Oh, well. I had a great time. Next year I hope to see more people and make more friends.

I'm most definitely looking forward to NorwesCon.

ENTJ - Commandant

You scored 100 I versus E, 20 N versus S, 60 F versus T, and 100 J versus P!

Your ideal mate is known as The Commandant. As a romantic partner, this type is inspiring, but also somewhat challenging. They have a strong desire to be in charge and their clear need for an organized life and home can be overwelming to a partner. They like to confront conflict directly, discuss problems unflinchingly, solve them, then put them behind you both. However, they can be too impatient or unwilling to take the time to listen to their partners and give them a chance to express themselves fully so that their partners also have a sense of closure. They are generally uncomfortable dealing with emotions, so they are apt to dismiss their partner's emotions as illogical. They feel most appreciated when their partners ask for their opinions, take their advice, and rely on them to get a job done right.
